About Papa Roach
The history of Papa Roach began in the January 1993, at the high school football match at Vacaville, where Jacoby Shaddix (lead vocalist) and Dave Buckner (drums) met and rather than the match they ended up talking their common interest Music. They were later accompanied Ben Luther (trombone) and Will James (bass guitar). This formed the Papa Roach’s first ever line up. After a very short duration Ben Luther was replaced by Jerry Horton as the lead guitarist.
It was in 1994 that Papa Roach recorded its first 7 track Extended Play titled Potatoes for Christmas. In 1995 they released their second EP, Caca Bonita. It was a 2 track promo recorded at Sound farm studios. After this Will James was replaced by Tobin Esperance (bass guitar) as he was heavily involved with a church summer camp and could not devote much time to practice and touring over summer.
In 1997 they produced the first full length album called Old Friends from Young Years, followed by the 5 track EP 5 Tracks Deep in 1998. It sold more than 1000 copies in its very first week and was a huge success. Their last EP in 1999 titled Let ‘Em Know was so popular that Dream work records contracted them. They then came out with their first major label album titled Infest in 1999 which sold over 30000 copies in the first week. It was followed by a number of tours for the band. It was followed by another huge hit in Lovehatetragedy during June 2002. Getting away with Murder which was their next album regardless of some backlash managed to out sold Lovehatetragedy.
